RE: RATES AND/OR FORMS UPDATE - New Montana Rate Filing

Dear Associates:

The Montana Division of Insurance has approved Stewart’s latest rate submission, and the new rates are effective July 14, 2025.

A copy of the Revised Montana Manual of Charges and Forms for Title Insurance is available here

These rates have been provided to third-party title production system (TPS) vendors. Please contact your TPS vendor or account services representative to have the new/revised rates implemented in your system.

(*) NOTE: Added forms are not available until they are approved by the Montana Department of Securities and Insurance. Expected effective date for forms is TBD, pending department approval. A follow-up bulletin will be sent upon Montana Department of Securities and Insurance Form Filing approval.

A summary of the changes to the Rate Manual is outlined below.

  • Added special pricing consideration under Section A General Provisions
  • Added Paragraphs 2 Cancellation Charges, 3 Credit for Cancellation Charges on Commitments and 4 TBD or No Concurrent Transaction under Section B Commitments
  • Basic Schedule of Charges increase under Section C
  • Amended language under Section D Paragraph 6 for 1031 Reverse Exchanges
  • Simplified One-to-Four Family Residential Loan Policy Charges increases under Section E, Paragraphs 9 and 10
  • ALTA Residential Limited Coverage Mortgage Modification Policy Charges changed from a flat rate to tiered pricing under Section E, Paragraph 11
  • Amended language under Section E Paragraph 12 SMART Exceptions
  • Added language under Section F Simultaneous Issue
