Counterfeit Cashier's Checks

Summary:

Counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the name Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank,Harwich Port, Massachusetts, are reportedly in circulation.

 

The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, Harwich Port, Massachusetts, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation. The counterfeit items are associated with a mystery shopping scam.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 211371078, which is assigned to The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, but are dissimilar to authentic treasurer's checks. The counterfeit items display "CASHIER'S CHECK" in the top-left corner. The bank's name, address, and a telephone number, which is not associated with the bank, are displayed in the top-center portion of the item.

Authentic checks display the bank's logo in the top-left corner and a watermark across the middle portion of the check. The bank's name and location are displayed in the bottom-left corner.

Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review. Be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.

Counterfeit Checks

Summary:

Counterfeit checks bearing the name Heritage Federal Credit Union, Newburgh, Indiana, are reportedly in circulation.

 

Heritage Federal Credit Union, Newburgh, Indiana, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation. The counterfeit items are reportedly accompanied by a lottery scam letter that includes an address in Nassau , Bahamas .

The counterfeit items display the routing number 281378108, which is assigned to Heritage Federal Credit Union. The counterfeit items are virtually identical in style to authentic checks. However, the one distinguishing feature is the color of the check stock. The counterfeit items are printed on pink paper; authentic checks are printed on blue paper.

Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review. Be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.

Banking License of Pacific Savings Bank, Ltd., Republic of Palau , Revoked

Summary:

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has notified the FDIC that the Financial Institutions Commission, Republic of Palau , has revoked the banking license of Pacific Savings Bank, Ltd., and placed the bank into receivership.

 

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has notified the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) that the Financial Institutions Commission, Republic of Palau , revoked the banking license of Pacific Savings Bank, Ltd., and placed the bank into receivership on November 7, 2006. Mr. Kaleb Udui, Jr. was appointed as the receiver for the bank. Pacific Savings Bank, Ltd., had an address of NECO Plaza , P.O. Box 399 , Koror, Republic of Palau 96940.
